Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Communications
Encouraged a healthy critique of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ’s programs and services with its membership through a variety of online and creative face-to-face engagement tactics: Welcome to the Neighbourhood buzz events, monthly infographic brochures highlighting services/programs of interest, BIZ member stories, semi-annual magazine, information kiosks, mail-outs and e-newsletters, and annual general meetings. Cultivated a partnership with Tourism Winnipeg to promote BIZ members at visiting international conferences and/or tradeshows. Worked with businesses to position the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ as a trusted and authentic voice on downtown issues.
While core initiatives included cleanliness and safety programs, marketing and communication strategies, and placemaking efforts, additional projects developed as a result of enhanced engagement with the membership, including but not limited to: a retail incubator which supported more than 12 businesses to enter into short-term and/or long-term leases in the downtown; homelessness support through social workers; weekly tours of the downtown highlighting area attractions, restaurants, and architectural gems; and public art in the public realm.
